I am a self-taught piano technician. After referencing extensive tutorials and textbooks, I began tuning my piano, and in doing so found that I am very passionate about piano restoration. I use a blend of classic techniques and modern technology to measure the unique harmonics of a piano and adjust the tuning and tone.

Maintenance and Cleaning
The best way to maintain a piano is through regular playing, servicing, cleaning, and environmental management (temperature, moisture, and light). Pianos are open furniture that collect dust and debris over long periods of time. Clean all accessible surfaces of your piano with a swiffer or feather duster regularly. Trust a piano technician to properly clean the strings and delicate parts of the action inside your piano.
A neglected piano may require significant cleaning and tuning work over multiple visits to restore its former quality. Once a piano is fine tuned, it requires work on a less frequent basis. Most piano owners in New England tune their pianos twice a year to align with the severe seasonal changes in humidity and temperature. As a professional pianist, I prefer to fine tune my 1989 Yamaha Grand piano monthly. A well-maintained piano with proper humidity control should only migrate 5% in pitch per year.
